...hand lotion application. How do you do it with a diamond ring on without taking the ring off?
I've been in the habit of momentarily taking the ring off, putting it in a secure position within eyesight, applying my lotion, then putting the ring back on. That's probably NEVER going to happen again after I tried that routine at my home the other day, forgot to put my ring back on and went to school without any evidence of being a fiancee! Brent was "so scared" that some suave guy was going to hit on me, thinking I wasn't taken. :) Fortunately, didn't happen.
So, what do you do? Goop the ring up with lotion? And wipe it off later? HELP!

i still take mine off when i put on lotion. i usually remember to put them back on, but there were times early on when i forgot. (the first day back at work after our honeymoon i left my rings at home!) i think i read somewhere that the lotion isn't good for the metal part.
After losing a ring, I refuse to take mine off unless I have a pocket to put it in while I wash or use lotion. That has helped a lot. I think I would have left one on a counter in the bathroom at the office by now if I didn't stick to that habit.
Hayley, that's Irina :) MY comment might sound silly, but it's what works with me and my rings - I have an exema on my hands so I do have to put hand lotion often - what I do, I clutch my rings with my teeth :))) After forgetting my wedding ring in the bathroom of a hotel room and returning for it half an hour later after I checked out, I found it, but I stopped putting the ring anywhere except for my own mouth. In this case I never lose it or forget to put it on :)))) This may sound waaay too silly, but it helps me not to lose ir! I wash my hands first with the ring - so it is clean :) Diamonds become less shining and clear if the lotion is is put on them.
YEs, it is a pain. Did you know that jewlery stores offer free ring cleaning? It doesn't have to be where you bought it either. YOu can drop it off at the mall while you shop and pick it up when you leave.
I definitely take mine off first, and by the looks of yours, there are so many nooks and crannies that you would want to take it off, too. I do what your friend Irina does most of the time, which is put my rings between my clamped lips. I just got into that habit somehow. I will say this, though: I bought a $6 silver band at Gordman's, and I leave it on the little card it came on, in the center console in my car. If I forget my rings for whatever reason at home, I can put that band on and not walk around in public looking like an unwed mother!! So, back up ring for when it's left at home. But yes, at any jewelry store they will clean and buff your ring for free. I would stand there and watch them do it. :) And then put it right back on. One last thing: They have those little jars of red cleaning solution at Walmart for REALLY cheap. The jewelry counters charge a fortune for those. But that stuff works really well. Because the diamond gets dirty every time you wash your hands... You can rub the soap off your hands, but you can't rub it off the bottom of the diamonds. So the soap residue dries and the diamonds become less shiny. Dropping the rings in the cleaner jar for about 15 seconds and then using the little brush is like magic. Wow, this is really long! Sorry!
Irina?! Is this the Irina that came to stay with my family and me when I was only a child? I didn't know you were reading my blog! How exciting! I want to email you!!
